1. BrickLink’s 2028 Wave 1 Opens for Submissions Today
The next BrickLink Designer Program submission window opens today at 3:00 PM ET / noon Pacific, giving fan designers their shot at a future 2028 release. Castle builders should note one particularly important rule: Castle models cannot use official faction names such as Lion Knight or Wolfpack in their titles.
There’s also a new eligibility wrinkle for this wave: designers selected as finalists will have to wait one year before becoming eligible to submit again. For Castle fans, today marks the start of another round worth watching closely as the first medieval builds enter the program.
2. LEGO Brings the Original Yellow Castle Knight Back Into the Spotlight
One of LEGO Castle’s oldest icons is back in an official LEGO campaign. LEGO’s new “Built for Tomorrow” campaign features the knight from the classic 1978 Yellow Castle, using the nearly 50-year-old character to highlight how LEGO bricks are designed to be rebuilt, reused and passed between generations.
For Castle collectors, the interesting part is simply seeing LEGO reach all the way back to the beginning of the theme for a modern company-wide campaign. The Yellow Castle knight isn’t appearing here as a new set announcement — but LEGO is once again treating one of its earliest Castle characters as part of the brand’s living history.

BrickFair Oaks is coming to Pennsylvania November 5–8. If you’re considering the full exhibitor weekend, circle October 22: full-weekend registration is currently $125, and paying by that date saves $30. October 22 is also the deadline to be included in the program and receive a Brick Badge.
The public expo itself runs Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8, so the October deadline is primarily something exhibitors and full-weekend attendees need to know — not a public-ticket cutoff. Vendor tables are already sold out.
